Biodiesel Myths: Diagnosing TDI Performance Issues (Part 1)
Volkswagen TDIs are wonderful vehicles and one of the most popular choices for biodiesel use, but they are prone to several common issues that are often mis-diagnosed or wrongly blamed on biodiesel. Frequently these begin with symptoms of low power and sluggishness. There are a number of possible causes for this typical problem, and none of them are due to biodiesel! Dr. Dan of Dr. Dan's Biodiesel discusses the technical background and typical causes for performance, driveability and maintenance issues in TDIs, and how to cure them.

Bio-Diesel for City Gas Guzzlers
Bio-Diesel for City Gas Guzzlers
Jason Hoar, Bio- Diesel expert explains to Melissa McGinnis from Greenopolis TV that we can all "use" bio-diesel by suggesting to our City Officials to switch to bio- diesel fuel for our city trucks and buses. Bio-diesel is a pretty simple fuel we can make from vegetable oils, animal fats, and restaurant grease. We chemically convert them so it's almost identical to diesel fuel. So you can use pure bio-diesel one day, regular petroleum the next, or anywhere in between. Basically, they're all lipids, and a lipid is like a three-legged octopus. So we take that lipid, that oil, we add a little alcohol in the catalyst, and we cut its head off. The head floats down to the bottom- that's the by-product, glycerol- and the legs, once they're tested and everything has happened properly- then that's bio-diesel. So we can grow it in any country, any place in the world. We can use rotation crops, these new algaes using aqua-culture are coming-up; and it's a great fuel. It's the best energy-balanced of any liquid fuel in history. In the US, most of our cars are gasoline, we're really the last gasoline economy in the world, so short of buying a diesel vehicle and using it you can go to the school districts, to city council meetings and encourage the school buses, especially older ones, to use bio-diesel. You can read the studies on how bad the air is inside the school bus and using bio-diesel reduces that. All the city vehicles, the dump trucks, the street sweepers, all those diesel ...

How to Make Algal Biofuel-Part 1:Growing algae at home
How to Make Algal Biofuel-Part 1:Growing algae at home
QIZHONG LABS presents you with its two-part tutorial on how to make your own algal biofuel. Making biofuel has two steps, growing algae and using algal biomass to produce biofuel. This video will tell you everything you need to know about cultivating your own algae. It is important to grow algae to fix carbon dioxide to reduce the effects of global warming. Scientists have already predicted that extreme weather conditions will persist if action is not taken. In recent years, we have seen record snowfall, deadly tornadoes, heavy flooding, and extreme drought. Everyone is affected by these events, so, it is imperative that everyone does their part in combating global warming. Growing algae is the simplest thing that one can do to fight global warming. If everybody participated in growing algae, millions of tons of carbon dioxide would be removed from the air every year. In addition to reversing the effects of global warming, growing algae also produces a large amount of algal biomass that can be used to make algal biofuel that can replace fossil fuels and improve indoor air quality. This video has everything you need to get started cultivating your own algae and doing your part to fix the climate crisis. Visit us at www.qizhonglabs.com Subscribe for Part 2!

Biodiesel processor TT700A presentation.mpg
An introduction to Goat Industries TT700A biodiesel processor with an explanation of the main design features and safety precautions. The machine processes vegetable oil into biodiesel using methanol and a catalyst and can produce fuel to the european standard EN14214 from waste vegetable oil. For more information please visit: www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk . The settling tank process is a bit complicated and you only need one TT700A machine to work it. In day one of the process, the TT700 makes about 2800 litres of crude biodiesel, pumped into a settling tank. Day two, the same would happen, to a different tank. Day three, the same and so one. The next week, on day one the crude biodiesel is brought back through the TT700 for purification. Day two, the same and so on. Hope this explains it!

1st Philippine International Bio Energy Conference (Speech) 1/12/2012
Manila Hotel January 12, 2012 "Renewable energy has always been a key consideration towards achieving our vision of a greener and more vibrant Philippines" said President Aquino during the opening of the 1st Philippine International Bio Energy Conference (PIBEC) which was held at the historic Manila Hotel. With the theme, "Green Investment, Providing Solutions towards Energy Sustainability", the President said that the performance of the energy sector will be more impressive in 2012, emanating from a successful 2011. He cited that at this time, "nearly 39% of our energy requirements are provided by renewable sources such as hydropower, geothermal, solar, wind and biomass." He also mentioned that the projected contribution of the biomass sector will increase from 39 megawatts in 2010 to more than 300 megawatts in 2015. As an effect, the government can generate around 89000 jobs for Filipinos and empower an estimate of 577000 farm families that will benefit through gaining added earnings in selling agri-waste and forest residues, the raw materials in developing biomass resources. President Aquino also told the participants about the Biofuels program of the Department of Energy which promotes biodiesel and bioethanol fuels used for vehicles. He said that the country has a biofuel production capacity of more than 390 million liters last year, which opens an opportunity to supply the worldwide demand for biodiesel. Philippines is capable of producing more than 60% of local ...

Alternative Energy - Biofuel from Algae
Alternative Energy - Biofuel from Algae
Algae is the fastest growing plant life, and as an organism it converts sunlight into oil, scientists theorize that Algal biofuel can produce a whopping 30 times more energy per acre than any other biofuel option. The US Department of Energy has estimated that if Algal Biofuel replaced all conventional fuel in the country, it would require 15000 square miles of land to harvest the algae... which is roughly one seventh of the area that is used to harvest corn in the US every year. And a diverse group of byproducts, such as neutraceuticals and feedstocks for producing plastics, can be created in algal biofuel operations, making the production more cost effective. But before we start celebrating the great biofuel solution we've been looking for, there are a few problems... the biomass for producing a significant amount of algal biofuel just doesn't exist yet. The algae has to be grown from scratch and harvesting it is very expensive at this point in time. The potential of Algal Biofuel is staggering... but the problem is that, as of now, it's all just potential. It might be years before the technology catches up to make producing algal biofuel on a large scale possible... but when that time comes, we might be able to finally celebrate a more efficient, renewable, and environmentally friendly energy source. For more information on this exciting and developing technology, check out AlgalBioMass.Org. I'm Elizabeth Chambers. Check back here for more eco friendly news and tips ...
